The Tour de France is a gruelling 2,000-mile-long race, starting in the Netherlands and ending in the French capital 22 days later.
It’s not for the faint hearted let’s put it that way. So for those who sat and watched the epic cycling event and wished they were there riding alongside them, I’m sure you have asked yourself, do you have what it takes to be a professional cyclist?
Well Your Jobs in Scotland has found the perfect opportunity for those looking to get a career in this field to test the water.
Cyclists in the Aberdeen area are being offered the chance to Ride Like a Pro and win a Pinarello Dogma F8, as ridden by Team Sky, and an eight-day cycling experience in Tuscany, thanks to Peter Vardy Jaguar.
The Aberdeen ride out will take place on Sunday, August 23, starting from Peter Vardy Jaguar in Lang Stracht and one participant will be chosen for a national grand final, competing in both driving and cycling time trials for a chance to win a luxury cycling package.
Kevin Gordon, branch manager at Peter Vardy Jaguar said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone in Aberdeen who is interested in cycling to show off their skills while having a lot of fun.
“The ride out is non-competitive, and will follow a 48-mile route generated, plotted and recorded using Strava, the GPS cycling race and run tracker.”
The top male and female participants from each regional event will go through to compete in a national grand final at Fen End, West Midlands, on September 23.
The grand finalists will compete in a driving challenge and cycling time trial, earning the chance to cycle away on a Dogma F8, co-engineered by Jaguar, and a luxury cycling retreat in Italy, home to the world class cycling manufacturers, Pinarello.
During the Peter Vardy ride out, competitors will be supported by the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, the official car of Team Sky.
Grand final competitors will later be able to take the wheel of the Jaguar F-type Coupé which supported former Team Sky rider, Sir Bradley Wiggins on his UCI World Time Trial Championship ride in 2014.
They will also get the exclusive chance to improve their cycling knowledge from members of the Team Sky management, as well as receive coaching from professional racing drivers in preparation for a sports director challenge, where they will have to test their driving skills against a Team Sky sports director.
Those interested in taking part need to register online. You can find out more about the ride out at: www.petervardy.aberdeen.jaguar.co.uk/events/ridelikeapro
