Petrofac Training Services brought some of the north-east’s offshore and energy sector businesses together recently for their premiere Corporate Cup event in Aberdeen.
Football fans working across the oil and gas sector took part in the seven-a-side tournament, which brought together well-known industry names such as Premier Oil, Halliburton and KCA Deutag. The tournament has been a key part of Petrofac Training Services’ initiative to unite community and business in Aberdeen, while supporting the fantastic work of the Aberdeen FC Community Trust with whom the event had been organised in partnership with.
Teams competed for the ultimate prize of lifting the Petrofac Corporate Cup at the Petrofac Training Cup Final 2015 between Livingston and Alloa. Aberdeen legend Eoin Jess was also on hand on the day to offer his seasoned advice to all teams taking part.
Petrofac Offshore Projects and Operations Division (OPO) emerged as the winning team, claiming victory at the prize-giving ceremony at Pittodrie, which took place after the tournament.
Eoin said: “The Petrofac Corporate Cup was a fantastic event for businesses in the Aberdeen area, and gave people an opportunity to have fun, play football and raise money and awareness for the AFC Community Trust. It was really good to go along on the day to give the teams some coaching advice, and to support such a worthwhile cause. Aberdeen is obviously where it all started for me and it was great to give something back to the area.”
Jill Tough, Petrofac Training Services marketing manager, said: “This was a great opportunity for a business team to lift a trophy at a national Cup Final. Petrofac Training is committed to engaging with football fans across the country, and we’re pleased to have been able to work in partnership with Aberdeen FC Community Trust to deliver a very special occasion with an incredible reward. Not only have participants had an amazing day, we’re happy to have been able to support this local charity.”
