Emma Duncan is one of the lucky people who has already bagged her dream job.
The 32-year-old from Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, runs her own company, Effects by Emma, in the field that she is most passionate about – makeup artistry.
“Makeup Artistry is my dream job because I love getting creative and have a passion for makeup, I could never get bored of painting a face,” she said.
She said she gets to meet so many different people in different locations and provide make up applications for everything from weddings to photo shoots.
“My favourite thing about makeup artistry is keeping up with the most recent makeup trends and putting my own twist on the classic ones,”
“I also love to see the delight on my clients’ faces when I show them the end results in the mirror.”
Here she gives her advice to others who want to follow the same career path:
“If you dream of being a makeup artist then my best advice to you is to just go for it.
“The best makeup schools are no longer just confined to London and you can get the same level of training here is Scotland.
“I did two fast track courses at the Academy of Makeup in Glasgow and was taught by some of the industries top professionals. Fast track courses are fantastic, you learn so much but in a shorter space of time so you can get out working straight away.
“Have confidence in yourself and let your makeup skills do the talking.”
