Fixed Term for 2 years

To assist with the resource management, measurement, cost control and financial reconciliation for construction work to optimise the performance of Building Services to ensure that optimum financial reconciliation within a Best Value cost recovery system.

The key duties of this post are:
  • To assist with the measurement of construction projects both for internal and external clients and prepare best value submission / valuations / invoices and submit timeously to the Client for agreement and payment.
  • To assist with checking works orders, bills of quantity and schedule of rates for accuracy and content involving as necessary site inspections and referral of items to Client/Consultant for clarification.
  • To assist with the identification of areas of additional work not covered by the works orders/bill of quantities/schedule of rates. To respond independently to routine or predictable situations when dealing with contracts by investigating reasons for variances, undertaking option appraisal and developing solutions for Clients' approval.
  • To assist with the monitoring of progress on specific small / medium / large projects (up to £1 million per project) by comparison with the programme and costs against values.
  • To assist with producing monthly financial statements for cost control purposes (spend to date and final account projections) for a number of projects.
  • To assist with the measurement and valuation, i.e. identification of claims and variations, payment of sub-contractors and settlement of Final Accounts.
  • Input data into computer to provide financial records.

The skills and experience you must have:
  • Excellent results from school in relevant subjects, including a minimum of 3 Highers which must include passes in English and Maths.
  • A commitment to learning on the job to develop a career in construction.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
