Job Description
Based in a Dundee City Council Nursery, you will work full time, 37 hours per week, term time only, fixed term for 2 academic years. The Modern Apprentice Scheme is focused to target high youth unemployment in the Dundee Area and the funding for training is only available for candidates aged 16 to 19. Please ensure, if you are applying for a Modern Apprentice post, that you are between the ages of 16 to 19. You will be asked to bring proof of age with you if you are invited for an interview.
You will have 1 Higher and 4 National 5s - English essential, or equivalent, ie 5 Standard Grades at credit level or 5 'O' Grades at 1 or 2 or A and B; OR NC Early Education and Childcare.
You will work flexibly as part of a team to promote the all round development and well being of children from birth to 5 years.
The Individual
You will have knowledge and understanding of early years curriculum and good practice and experience of engagement with young children. You will have a positive and caring approach and commitment to children and families, good communication/ interpersonal skills. In addition you will have enthusiasm and commitment towards completing full Modern Apprenticeship and achieving the SVQ L3 Social Services (CYP) qualification This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
