The Oil and Gas Authority’s (OGA’s) role is to regulate, influence and promote the UK oil and gas industry in order to achieve our statutory principal objective of maximising the economic recovery of the UK’s oil and gas resources. Established in April 2015 as an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, on 1 October 2016 the OGA was incorporated as a Government Company, with the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy the sole shareholder. The OGA is largely funded by an industry levy introduced on 1 October 2015.

Head of Decommissioning (Ref. OGA025)

£116,530 per annum plus £5,000 allowance and benefits

The Head of Decommissioning leads the Decommissioning team within the Operations Directorate and reports to the Director of Operations. This is the largest Directorate and is responsible for the overall stewardship of oil and gas exploration, production and decommissioning on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS). Leading a specialist team of five, the Head of Decommissioning will play a critical role in driving the interaction with Operators in order to build collaboration in the planning and execution of their respective decommissioning projects in order to deliver improved efficiencies and reduce costs. In addition a key role will be to improve the capability of the UKCS supply chain to become world leaders in the area of decommissioning services The successful candidate must have the ability to establish a big picture with a long term vision and be able to communicate the opportunities and risks associated. Proven leadership skills are an absolute must. It is critical that the Head of Decommissioning can take the strategic work currently underway and produce tangible outputs. 

The role is a permanent appointment based in Aberdeen.
