Senior Drilling Engineer
The Oil and Gas Authority’s (OGA’s) role is to regulate, influence and promote the UK oil and gas industry in order to achieve our statutory principal objective of maximising the economic recovery of the UK’s oil and gas resources. Established in April 2015 as an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, on 1 October 2016 the OGA was incorporated as a Government Company, with the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy the sole shareholder. The OGA is largely funded by an industry levy introduced on 1 October 2015.
Senior Drilling Engineer (Ref. OGA017)
£89,000 per annum plus £5,000 allowance and benefits
The Senior Drilling Engineer will have a key role working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that OGA’s wells related Stewardship Expectations are fully understood and implemented. The candidate will ideally have had a broad range of well experience, including well and completion design, well construction and well-site operations to ensure credibility. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a good understanding across the wells delivery process, integrating with subsurface to define and meet well requirements, and understanding well design implications for the eventual plug and abandonment stage. Review of operator well plans to provide insight on best practices will be a key aspect of the role and to provide recommendations on how to increase value through enhancing well design and delivering cost efficiencies.
The role is a permanent appointment based in Aberdeen.
