The Oil and Gas Authority’s (OGA’s) role is to regulate, influence and promote the UK oil and gas industry in order to achieve our statutory principal objective of maximising the economic recovery of the UK’s oil and gas resources. Established in April 2015 as an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, on 1 October 2016 the OGA was incorporated as a Government Company, with the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy the sole shareholder. The OGA is largely funded by an industry levy introduced on 1 October 2015.
Senior Geophysicist (Ref. OGA024)
£75,267 per annum plus £5,000 allowance and benefits
The Senior Geophysicist will address subsurface challenges ranging from frontier exploration through to field development. The successful candidate will help deliver Asset Stewardship Expectations and ensure that industry uses the optimal subsurface datasets to generate new plays and prospects, monitor reservoir performance and in-field drilling opportunities to enhance production. The Senior Geophysicist will lead and collaborate with industry and academia, support the technical evaluation of prospects, petroleum licence applications, maintain close collaboration with the supply chain, and supervise data associated with the OGA’s seismic programmes.
