Back to the 80s

We follow the career paths of some 80s stars and see where they have ended up since they first shot to fame in that decade.
He told us he was “never gonna give you up” in the 1980s and that song has never stopped playing in discos and parties ever since. Rick still tours but you can probably hear him most regularly on his weekly radio show for London’s Magic FM.
Don’t recognise the name? How about if I said just Tiffany and “I think we’re alone now”. Yes it’s the pop princess who had worldwide success with that 80s classic. Sadly none of her other material was much of a commercial hit and us over in the UK haven’t heard much of her since. She does continue to write and record and has been on a number of reality TV shows including Celebrity Wife Swap and Celebrity Fit Club.
She also mentors young singer/songwriters, produces charity concerts for the Humane Society, and is also the official spokeswoman for American Heart Association in Nashville.
CHERYL BAKER from Bucks Fizz
Not many people can list among their career achievements winning the Eurovision Song Contest – but Cheryl Baker, Bobby G, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston definitely can. Their song Making Your Mind Up gained them first place in the 1981 competition.
While Cheryl Baker still tours under the name The Original Bucks Fizz, she also created for herself a pretty success TV career including her stint on Record Breakers for much of the 90s and made her way into theatre including the new Happy Days musical.
ANDREW RIDGELEY from Wham
Unlike George Michael, who for a while was never out the papers, Andrew Ridgeley has lived quite a quiet life since his days of Club Tropicana.
Married to another 80s favourite – Bananarama star Keren Woodward – he moved away from the bright lights of London to a 15th century Cornish farmhouse following a pretty unsuccessful solo career.
According to media reports he spends most of his time enjoying rounds of golf and living off his 80s riches. He does however do a lot of campaigning specifically for environmental causes. But it’s been reported recently that he will return to our screens with an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.
