An Aberdeen-based site manager has secured his first National House-Building Council (NHBC) award after beating off stiff competition from almost 15,000 entrants.

Dave Oliver, 39, from Rothienorman in Aberdeenshire, who works at Barratt Homes’ Mill Brae development in the Bridge of Don area, received a Quality Award at this year’s Pride in the Job Awards.

With more than 23 years’ experience in the building trade, Dave has worked hard with the site team at Mill Brae to ensure that the highest standards of build quality are met.

He said: “It is a great feeling to be recognised for my efforts at Mill Brae. The team continuously works extremely hard to deliver the best quality product for customers, so I am very proud to take home the award for them and for myself.”

Throughout Scotland Barratt Homes scooped six Pride in the Job Quality Awards for quality workmanship.

Douglas McLeod, regional director for Barratt Scotland, said: “The official recognition of our winning site managers shows that Barratt Scotland is building some of the best quality homes in the country.

“Site managers play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes and that is why we are so delighted with our teams’ successes. This is truly an outstanding result and one which should inspire confidence in our buyers.”

Dave will now go forward to the final round of the competition which will select the best site manager in the UK.
