Building on success

As part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week a successful business breakfast was held by North East Scotland College (NESCol) at Fraserburgh Campus on Wednesday, March 3.
Attended by 14 employers across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, visitors enjoyed an informative tour of the campus including the £8 million extension and refurbishment programme. This build will deliver an additional 2,000m2 of new facilities within the engineering, construction and automotive departments offering future apprentices access to the latest equipment in spacious workshops.
Ian Runcie, employer engagement manager, said: “We have had very positive feedback from all the employers this morning. Many have remarked how impressed they have been with the facilities here in Fraserburgh. I have also found it to be extremely beneficial in listening to how businesses are tackling today’s challenges and how this is impacting upon the types of apprenticeships required moving forward.”
Visitors were also provided with an overview of the new self-service employer portal designed to provide accessible trainee information. Employers will be able to view timetables and attendance data of trainees plus subject details and results as they become available.
After an informative question and answer session involving members of the lecturing team Ian Runcie thanked everyone for attending.
