Cyclist Steve never tyres of work

When mountain bike enthusiast Steve Sacks learned that a new off-road trail was opening right on his doorstep in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, he knew that it would make indulging in his passion that little bit easier.
What he did not expect, however, was to land his dream job because of it.
Steve, who runs a bed and breakfast close to the Glenlivet Estate, saddled up for a new career and decided to put together a business plan to operate the on-site café and bike hire business.
He was awarded the contract and in the two years since BikeGlenlivet launched, Steve’s love for the area has been endorsed by a staggering 23,000 cyclists who have visited the breathtakingly beautiful trails.
He said: “As a mountain biker, it has been especially exciting to see cycling grow within the Cairngorms. Glenlivet is the perfect destination for cyclists now, with the first class trails at BikeGlenlivet combined with long, peaceful roads.
“The best part of cycling here is that whether on the trails or out on the road, you can go for hours without passing anyone. There is a real sense of freedom, calm and being away from everything here.
“I use the trails at every opportunity I have. There is no better way to finish a day at work than by racing down the trails and taking in the beautiful views which can be admired from the peaks of the course.”
