First steps to a great career

Do you have big dreams of a career with a difference but no idea how to make the next step into the world of employment?

The Press and Journal Skills and Apprenticeship show is here to help, and we have joined forces with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) for the second year in a row.

Whether you want to work in Scotland’s impressive hospitality industry or win a place on a competitive graduate scheme, we can help make your career aspirations a reality.

A wealth of information will be at your fingertips when the biggest skills show in the Highlands takes place at Inverness College Campus on Wednesday, November 23.

Supporting sponsors Highland Council, Inverness College and Developing The Young Workforce are also helping us make this year’s exhibition better than ever.

It will be open from 10am until 7pm with a wide sector of industries that can help you on your way to landing that dream job.

A spotlight speaker stage will offer face-to-face advice, with industry experts covering a wide range of topics.

Inverness College UHI can help get you qualified in a wide range of subjects and will inspire you along the way.

As one of the main providers of further and higher education in Inverness, the college is also one of the largest partner colleges of the university.

There are more than 6,000 students who come not from across Scotland, but around the world, with excellent support in place to help all students achieve their goals.

There is an extensive variety of courses and programmes, whether you want to complete a degree or embark on a graduate apprenticeship.

Options are also available for post-graduate research and there is access to networked courses led by other partners in the university.

Studying is made even more inspiring thanks to the state-of-the-art campus which opened in 2015, providing a major financial boost for Inverness.

Hundreds of students also attend the School of Forestry in Balloch.

Both campuses are equipped to a high industry standard with a range of laboratories, workshops and realistic working environments.

Young people can also take part in fun, practical activities designed to inspire them to explore new skill areas.

A selection of courses include health and childcare, plumbing, hair dressing and beauty and carpentry.

Specialist teaching rooms and social learning spaces are also on offer.

These facilities, great teaching staff and the range of support to students from application to achieving their qualifications and beyond, make Inverness College UHI a great place to start their career journeys.
