Global group joins P&J Appretince 100 campaign
Aberdeen Asset Management has become the latest company to throw its weight behind the Press and Journal’s Apprentice 100 campaign.
Martin Gilbert, chief executive of the global investment management group, said the initiative “is a great way to raise the profile of opportunities for young people” as they pledged one apprentice for the campaign.
The lucky individual will get the chance to learn a wide range of skills by rotating to different departments over the course of their apprenticeship.
AAM will now join Telecoms giant BT, Michelin-star chef Nick Nairn, Aberdeenshire Council and the Press and Journal on the roll of honour. Their pledge is a great boost to our campaign in which we aim to create 100 apprenticeships in 100 days.
Mr Gilbert added: “We’ve found our apprentices to be keen, motivated individuals who are committed to on-the-job training and learning.
“By rotating to different departments, they learn a wide range of skills and develop knowledge that will stand them in good stead for the future, while gaining a feel for the business and finding out which area best suits them and their skills and interests.
“Throughout the course of their apprenticeships we see these young people develop and flourish in the workplace. The impact that these school leavers have had on Aberdeen Asset Management is positive, and has resulted in apprenticeships playing an important part of our recruitment policy.
“Apprentice 100 is a great way to raise the profile of opportunities for young people to hone their skills and develop their talents within business. We’re pleased to be part of this campaign.”
The Press and Journal will also be offering a golden opportunity to one young person with its Joe Watson Memorial Apprenticeship.
The opportunity to work for the newspaper – and its sister paper, the Evening Express, in a variety of roles, is being offered in memory of our late farming editor Joe Watson, who died at the age of 43 in March last year.
Over the coming weeks keep your eye out for more announcements on who else is joining our roll of honour.
