Change Recruitment group are delighted to be working with one of Scotland’s leading further Education institutions in order to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant. The purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of financial information to a variety of stakeholders within the organisation. You will be ensuring they are aware of their performance against budgets and forecasts, and raise with the Management Accountant areas where operational information can be improved. Main Responsibilities

: You will support the Management Accountant in gathering and compiling information and reports to support the preparation of robust monthly management reporting for departments in within the organisation.
:To assist operational managers in gathering information for accurate monthly rolling forecasts, and assist the Management Accountant to compile overall forecasts.
: To fully understand and assist in the development of the cloud based reporting, planning and budgeting tool, including report writing, set up of new planning units, and assistance to operational managers.
: To assist in the compilation of the annual budget, including detailed labour modelling, assisting operational managers to complete revenue, labour and expenditure plans, and analysis of submitted budgets against plans and historical trends.
: To assist in the development of new reporting formats including KPIs and operational performance metrics
: To support training of operational managers in the use of financial systems and development of ad hoc reports to meet their needs.
: To analyse and develop stock reporting, update systems, and highlight areas of weakness to the Management Accountant.
: To maintain and publish departmental procedures to reflect changing business requirements, and assist in implementation of changes in financial policies.

Experience/Skillset Required

Ideally the successful candidate will have:

:Have an accounting degree, or be a part-qualified accountant, or hold an HNC/HND in a relevant discipline with relevant management accounting experience.
:Have experience of producing management information within a Finance department for a diverse, and preferably, commercial organisation.
:Have experience of holding management accounting reviews and budget meetings with a variety of operational managers.
:Have an analytical mind able to analyse and interpret underlying trends from large volumes of data, and understand the consequences of changes to systems across the business.
:Be computer literate with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (in particular Microsoft Excel e.g. Sorting & Retrieval, Lookups, Pivot Tables)
:Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to relate to staff at all levels within the organisation and have confidence to challenge existing practices.
:Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
:Demonstrate the ability to work in a changing environment and achieve deadlines and targets.
:Demonstrate the ability to work successfully as a member of a team
