Job Purpose

To manage and supervise a team undertaking a variety of set duties within assigned areas concerned with arboriculture within the city. The jobholder may be required to undertake work in public parks, playing fields, cemeteries landscaped areas, public roads, amenity areas and housing estates and other public open spaces.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Manage multidisciplinary teams including allocating duties, train, supervising, appraising and supporting the teams in the carrying out of their duties, providing guidance and assistance where necessary.
  • To ensure that work is undertaken in compliance with approved Codes of Practice and Procedures, reviewing and planning work programmes and schedules as required all with due regard to the requirements for Health and Safety at Work.
  • Monitor allocated budget within Financial Regulations.
  • Actively lead, assist and contribute to the creation, development and implementation of Environmental Services strategies, policies, initiatives, programmes and projects.
  • Liaise with customers and deal with their complaints / enquiries in a helpful and friendly manner.

Ensure consistently high standards of customer care are maintained, ensuring that Data Protection and Health & Safety legislation is complied with at all times.

The post holder needs to be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of:

  • Detailed working knowledge and experience of arboricultural teams and practices.
  • An understanding of the relevant legislation including the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of IT packages including Microsoft Office applications.
  • An understanding of the relevant legislation including the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

A full UK driving licence.

The post holder must have undertaken or be committed to undertaking the following within a specified period:

  • Familiarisation with Aberdeen City Council policies & procedures.
  • Appropriate Supervisor / Front Line Management Training.
