St Andrew’s Fox Covert RC Primary School
St Andrew’s Fox Covert RC Primary School is a denominational primary school serving the area of west Edinburgh. The wide catchment area comprises mixed housing, mainly owner occupied, with an increasing social and economic diversity. The school received £19, 200 in Pupil Equity Funding this year.
The school was re-named last session from Fox Covert RC Primary to St Andrew’s Fox Covert RC Primary, to create a clear and strong identity within its shared campus setting. As part of this process the school values were revisited to give clarity and direction and a new school motto developed to encompass those values - ‘alumnare, inspirare, florere’ – ‘nurture, inspire, flourish’ as we aim to nurture and inspire children and prepare them to flourish in life.
Close links exist with Fox Covert Primary School as a shared campus. The school has good links with St Kentigerns Park Grove and St John the Baptist parishes.
The current school roll is 175 in a single stream arrangement with seven classes.
The school’s teaching staff comprises the Head Teacher, Principal Teacher and a further six class teachers, one of whom is a newly qualified teacher. The school team also includes a part time Support for Learning teacher, a number of Pupil Support Assistants, and a Business Manager, School Administrator and Service Support officer complete the core school staffing
The school is served by visiting specialists of PE, woodwind and violin/viola. A visiting teacher for English as an Additional Language (EAL) support staff and pupils.
The school is well supported by a Parent Council and has important partnerships with third sector organisations.
