The St Andrews High Cluster is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified BMT Staff Tutor to lead the development of BMT across their cluster schools.

This is a full time temporary post until the end of school session 2019/20. Line Management of this post will be carried out by the Headteacher of St Pauls Primary School.

Principal Purpose and Objectives "Physical education is an ideal vehicle to encourage the development of both movement and thinking skills together and in doing so impact on, contribute to, and reinforce learning across the curriculum. Securing the vision for high quality physical education depends upon confident and well qualified practitioners and scheduled, protected time within the curriculum". Scottish Government Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport Excellence Group, Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport Report (March 2011) Fife Education and Learning Directorate recognise the importance of quality Physical Education experiences for the young people of Fife. Physical Education provides opportunities for the development of young people's Executive Functions - essential tools that support learners to access optimal learning. Many schools in Fife are choosing to adopt the Better Movers and Thinkers (BMT) approach within their quality PE experience to target the development of Executive Functions skills in order to ensure learners take responsibility for their learning throughout their school years and beyond.

The funding for this post is tied to the Pupil Equity Fund and its related outcomes for the cluster and its individual schools. Outcomes will therefore reflect the need to address poverty related inequity of experience.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

The Individual

The St Andrew's Cluster is looking to recruit a talented and committed teacher who is willing to apply new learning with enthusiasm and deliver BMT across St Andrew's Cluster. They should be confident and able to demonstrate they are an innovative practitioner. They should have a sound and detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant aspects of the Curriculum for Excellence 3-18 as well as possessing strong interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate they have a commitment to the vision, values and core priorities in the development of education, teaching and learning which meets the needs of all pupils.
