Job Title: Finance Manager - Generation

Location: Perth / Glasgow with travel to Perth

Salary: circa £50,000 (depending on skills and experience) + annual bonus

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

SSE Wholesale is involved in energy portfolio management, gas production and electricity generation. Wholesale is the leading generator of electricity from renewable sources across the UK and Ireland. An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager within the Generation Finance team, reporting to the Head of Finance - Generation and E&P.

This is a senior role within the Finance directorate which requires a candidate to manage and develop a team and guide and support the Generation business with a focus on strong financial stewardship of day to day activities. This role includes all aspects of the financial stewardship of 10 + companies involved in generation activity including all transactional processing, profit and loss account preparation and balance sheet reconciliation. In addition, you will work closely with the business to analyse and explain variances from budget and forecasts and provide insight to support decisions being made by the business team.

This role can be based in either Perth or Glasgow, however if the successful candidate is Glasgow based then there is an expectation they will need to be in the Perth office at least 4 days per week to start with.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, we are looking for a fully qualified accountant with extensive experience in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity. Knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / new UK GAPP, Companies Acts, Regulatory Licences etc is essential along with knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures. The successful candidate should have strong financial and organisational skills and the ability to build effective relationships. Strong communication skills, commercial awareness, focus and enthusiasm are essential attributes along with being proficient in MS Office applications (particularly excel) and knowledge of ERP software (Oracle would be desirable)
