Job Title: Land Manager

Location: Aberdeen or Inverness

Salary: £31,000 - £37,000 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance

Permanent | Full Time Hours| 37 hours per week

Our Role

Our Land teams are responsible for securing robust landowner agreements to help the delivery of Large Capital projects across various internal portfolios. Reporting to the Lead Land Manager, you will be involved in the successful delivery of land access rights, specifically maintaining and securing access, land and property rights for SHE Transmission projects. You will also assess claims for compensation and be involved in aspects of injurious affection.

You will regularly work as part of a project team and liaise closely with your team members over a range of disciplines as well as liaising with contractors and landowners to ensure all necessary land rights are acquired to deliver electricity transmission projects within the required timescales to minimise business risk.

Stakeholder engagement is an important element of this role, and you will have a wide array of stakeholders, both internal and external, to develop and maintain positive working relationships with; these stakeholders include landowners, tenants, their agents and relevant bodies such as the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit, Scottish Land & Estates, the National Farmers Union for Scotland, Forestry Commission Scotland and The Crown Estate.

Your Skills and Experience

To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, you should have an understanding of the energy industry, and the land ownership market we operate in. You'll have a working knowledge of the basis of calculation of wayleave rates; land compensation acts legislation; relevant sections of the Electricity Act 1989 and of system of Spatial Planning in Scotland. It would be advantageous you have, or are working towards a degree level qualification, and are a member of the Rural Professional Group of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; however, neither are essential requirements.

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
