Salary: £35,147 - £46,418 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance
Permanent | Full Time Hours| 37 hours per week
The Transmission Operations Team is responsible for the electricity transmission networks across the north of Scotland. We have an opportunity for a Trainee Field Unit Engineer to join our field team, predominately to carry out operational duties on these networks, in this development role you'll receive the training and development required to reach SAP status.
As a Field Unit Engineer, you will be helping to deliver SSE's operations programme on our transmission networks. This is a key role in helping to build the future network for SSE. You'll be involved in major construction project delivery, outage management, contractor liaison, commissioning support and ensuring best value for money. Safety is your number one priority, ensuring that all operational works are carried out to the highest standards.
Your Skills and Experience
A minimum HNC in electrical or power system engineering is essential for this role. You will be familiar with construction health and safety requirements and competent using Microsoft Windows, Outlook and Office applications. A confident communicator, you will be self-motivated, flexible in your approach and able to complete tasks within defined timescales. You must be willing to work away from your base location when required and a full UK driving license is essential.
At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
