Job Title: Streetworks Trainer/Assessor (NRSWA)

Location: Inverness

Salary: £35,147 - £46,418 depending on skills and experience

Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week

Our Role

Reporting directly to the Technical Training Manager, you'll train and assess delegates against current New Roads & Street Works Act qualification standards, playing an important role in ensuring that SSE have sufficient levels of qualified skilled staff to meet operational targets, and are safe and competent to work on the highway. In this role, you'll work closely with our internal quality assurance team to ensure that the required accreditation standards are met and are to the satisfaction of the awarding body external verification.

You'll work in an agile way to support changing business requirements and any changes to the programme of Technical Training delivery. There may also be a requirement to deliver training and assessment for other types of competencies in the future to assist in fulfilling the overall Technical Training programme requirements, so being open to up-skilling to do this is desirable.

During and following completion of training delivery, you'll have the responsibility of ensuring all supporting evidence, attendance records and paperwork are accurately recorded to the required standard and made available to the Street Works co-ordinator to promptly request relevant certificates to be issued by the Awarding Body. You'll also record attendance to maintain records using the SSE Learning Management System.

The main bases for delivery will be Inverness, however there may be a requirement to travel to other SSE sites for certain training courses in line with business and team requirements.

Your Skills and Experience

You'll have a strong operational background with several years vocational experience working on the highway in the energy or utilities sector. You'll be an excellent communicator, both face to face and in writing and will be excellent at building professional working relationships with a wide variety of colleagues. We would ideally like a candidate with experience in coaching, teaching and assessing, however full training will be given to candidates who hold the relevant technical skills and can evidence the right potential to become a successful Trainer. You'll need to be highly organised and able to meet deadlines to allow you to plan and deliver training material. Qualifications to instruct and assess are required for the role as listed below (or equivalent), however, training can be provided to the right candidate if required.

* Level 3 Award in Education and Training

* Assess Workplace Competence Using Direct Methods (L&D9D)

* Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

* Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

You'll need to be competent using Microsoft packages and have adequate IT skills in order to be able to use our Learning Management System to record attendance and results of training and assessment.
