Job Title: Substation Engineer
Location: Perth, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen
Salary: £31,000 - £46,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus
Permanent| Full Time Hours|37 hours per week
The Transmission business, is part of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, operating under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission plc for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We are looking for 2 Substation Engineers to form part of the team that is currently involved with a number of key transmission projects in Scotland, which are at various stages of the design and construction phases.
You will work as part of a project team responsible for successfully deliveringtransmission projects to cost, exacting standards and to project timescales during the design and construction phase. You will be involved in the detailed design and construction of transmission (400/275/132kV) schemes. You willalso provide technical electrical support across multiple substation projects creating outline designs during gate 0 - 2, including SLDs, Stage by Stages and electrical layouts. You will also be responsible for developing scope of works and detailed specifications for works from gate 2/3 onwards.
You will also liaise with statutory and key consultees on design and construction aspects of these projects.
Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in the role, you'll be able to call on design, management and construction experience in the electrical and plant aspects of transmission substations. A minimum HNC in a relevant subject is preferred, in addition to experience in this field with a DNO or a supplier to the industry. You'll be confident formulating detailed plant and installation specifications and will have good knowledge of plant and equipment standards and specifications for transmission projects.
As an excellent communicator and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll be comfortable co-ordinating with other engineering disciplines including Overhead Lines, cable, civil works, protection etc. In line with our key company value you'll have a robust understanding of health & safety requirements including a working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
You'll need to be adaptable, self-motivated and flexible as the nature of our projects mean you will be required to work away from base location. A full driving licence is required.
