Salary: £49565 - £65458 depending on skills and experience

Our Generation IT team provide a service to contribute to the continuing success of the SSE Generation directorate, to safely, efficiently and reliably maintaining and operate a diverse generation portfolio, which includes a significant amount of renewable energy capacity, across the UK and Ireland.
As Solution Delivery Team Leader, the main purpose of your role will be to provide leadership and development to the Generation IT Solution Delivery team to ensure the team contribute to the overall success of SSE. In these exciting times, you'll drive improvements and focus associated with a move away from in-house developed and internally-hosted applications, supporting single business processes, towards a model with enterprise applications, using the most flexible delivery model appropriate.
You'll implement and manage the delivery of IT services in line with ITIL principles, using both internal and third-party resources, to provide regular incremental improvements, aligned to the strategic direction of our Generation business. With a view to reducing the risk associated with our legacy applications, you'll also actively address technical obsolescence issues across the portfolio of IT services.
There's an expectation that you will take part in IT-wide forums improving the capability of the wider IT Solution Delivery teams aligned to other directorates, with opportunities to take a leading role in these forums for the right candidate.
You'll be expected to ensure the continued safety, security and integrity of IT services by ensuring compliance with all audit and regulatory requirements.
You should also be flexible to undertake occasional travel to support our business throughout the UK.
Your Skills and Experience
To succeed, you'll have a demonstrable understanding of SSE's business areas and the Energy industry, as well as experience of performance managing an IT delivery team in a fast-paced environment. Along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain business relationships along with the enthusiasm and focus to drive continuous improvement. Ideally, you'll also be degree educated, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline. You will have a thorough understanding of ITIL principles and have obtained ITIL foundation certification as a minimum.
