Our Role

To ensure the network continues to run effectively, we are looking to recruit a Field Manager into our existing team based in Aberdeen and providing services across the North Caledonia Region. The Field Manager will be responsible for the management of our North Caledonia Tree Cutting teams who are clearing vegetation from around our overhead network and will also conduct completion audits on works carried out by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) contracting partners.

If you enjoy working outdoors, this is your chance to contribute to the maintenance of our overhead distribution network, through a rolling programme of sustainable tree clearance.

Your Skills and Experience

Ideally you will have previous experience of working within the forestry or arboriculture industry; an understanding of the Distribution Network and experience working within the utilities sector would be beneficial. An NPTC UA certificate of competence would be an advantage and relevant NPTC units for the use of chainsaws is essential.

You should be a flexible, self-motivated individual who can work as part of a team and on your own initiative. You should have good planning and organisational skills to enable you to plan and deliver the team programme, on time and within budget. Safety is our key priority; you'll have the ability to risk assess activities throughout your working day and promote our safe working culture across the team. Previous experience of supervising teams of both direct staff and contractors is essential.

Our Company

At SSEN our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.

Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.

Our Benefits

We have an excellent benefits package as part of our offering. Here are a few highlights;

- Generous holiday allowance (you can even buy additional holidays)

- Great share plans

- Group Pension Plan

- One day paid volunteering

- Tailored internal development opportunities
