Job Title: Mobile Generation Fitter

Location: Inverness

Salary: £8.60 - £15.47 depending on skills and experience

Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week

Our Role

Mobile Generation is used to keep the customers lights on when supplies are not available either during planned work or in an emergency, and as a Mobile Diesel Generation (MDG) Fitter, you'll be responsible for ensuring our own fleet of mobile generation is available and ready to restore customer supplies during planned and unplanned interruptions. In this role, you will ensure SHEPD's mobile generation fleet is kept at a high state of readiness, whilst maintaining a high level of company and regulatory health, safety and environmental standards.

In addition, you'll service the mobile generation fleet, including planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, repairing or replacing defective equipment, general upkeep of plant, adequate reporting of fleet conditions and status, as well as out of hours' support. You will report to the MDG Team Manager, you will be based at Inverness depot however, the role will require visits to sites throughout the region.

Your Skills and Experience

To ensure you get the most from your role, we ask that you hold a time served apprenticeship within vehicle/plant/HGV or mobile generator fitter. A relevant City and Guilds certificate would be advantageous, however the ability to demonstrate relevant experience will be considered and training will be provided on SSE fleet specific equipment. As this role includes travelling across the SHEPD licence area, a UK driving licence is essential; you'll be provided with company transport to carry out your duties. An HGV/LGV driving licence would be advantageous , including any previous or current network authorisations.
