Job Title: Renewables Engineer

Location: Contin/Glasgow/Perth

Salary: £39,413 - £52,055 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

The Role

As Renewables Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers, technicians, contractors and direct labour based throughout Scotland ensuring all renewable generation assets are operated and maintained to the high standards expected within SSE. You'll be responsible for all aspects of asset management including routine inspections, surveying, testing & commissioning, project planning, safety, contract and direct management, and will cover a broad range of hydro and wind farm civil infrastructure.

You'll be accountable for the repair, refurbish and replacement of large gates and valves, winches, hydraulics, tunnels, pipelines, wind towers and dams. After completion of training you'll be expected to be able to project manage significant refurbishment works in addition to your core engineering responsibilities. Engineers play a key role in the design, supervision through construction and post works commissioning which will require someone who will thrive in the varied engineering environment and would be happy to accept this level of responsibility.

Your Skills & Experience

We are looking for an experienced civil or mechanical engineer educated to Degree level with relevant experience in an engineering and/or operational environment and a good technical skill base. You'll need strong communication skills, be flexible to work across our business unit, capable of working in a fast moving environment on multiple projects, and be happy to train towards the highest safety qualification to operate significant pieces of plant at our power stations such as hydraulic gates, valves and other mechanical items.

Due to the work involved in this role it is essential you're able to work in a variety of environments from height to confined spaces and are fully conversant with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

Travel to remote operational sites across the UK and Ireland will be expected as part of this role so a full driving licence is essential.
