Team Manager - Planning Strategy & Policy

East Lothian is close to adopting its first LDP and is already progressing work with its second as a response to the second SDP for the SESplan area. This is a demanding role with responsibilities for assisting with the delivery of existing forecast growth and planning for the future, including significant residential sites, key economic development sites at Cockenzie and Craighall and a significant new settlement at Blindwells.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong project management, team management and stakeholder influencing skills, and delivery of results in the context of complex statutory processes.
To manage the development and operational delivery of Planning services, maximising efficiency of service delivery within specific standards and approved budgets and in accordance with the Council’s obligations as the local Planning Authority, legal and statutory obligations and its policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Honours degree or diploma in Town Planning or equivalent and Membership of Royal Town Planning Institute, and be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.
Evidence of a commitment to Continual Professional Development.
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
