Senior Early Years Officer
An opportunity has become available for a Fixed Term Maternity Leave cover Senior Early Years Officer post, at Fox Covert Early Years Centre. The post will start as soon as possible, in order to shadow our permanent SEYO until the Maternity Leave commences in December 2018.
Our Centre is situated within the North West of Edinburgh. Our establishment has capacity for eighty-five children per session, providing early learning and childcare for children aged between two to five years. Our post is full time 52 weeks p.a., between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Staffing is arranged using a rota system. The Senior Management Team (SMT) currently consists of a Head of Centre and one Senior Early Years Officer. The Head Teacher within Fox Covert Primary School oversees our Centre and we work closely together.
There are two Primary Schools on our campus and we strive to continuously develop collaborative working. This temporary vacancy, for a dynamic, Senior Early Years Officer to join our team, is a fantastic opportunity to participate in the development of our forward-thinking and innovative practice, during a key time in early years.
We currently have a staff team of twenty-one employees, working in various roles, across the Centre.
We aspire to continuously improve; to be the very best we can. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the SMT to take forward our Centre's SQIP Priorities, working alongside the school Priorities. There is an expectation to provide support in the playrooms for 50% of the role, by arrangement with the Head of Centre. You will demonstrate a clear commitment to actively drive forward our high quality provision and practice, as part of a strong and stable staff team. You will help the Head of Centre to support the co-ordination of the smooth running of our Centre and continuously embrace Partner Services and other agencies as required. We ensure equality of opportunity for all stakeholders, maximising the potential for all children and families. You will assist in the planning and delivery of the Pre-birth to Three Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence, ensuring regular and robust self-evaluation is completed. You will hold a sound working knowledge of GIRFEC and ensure that services in the Child's Plan are delivered in an integrated way. You will be expected to support the management of staff through regular 1:1 Check-In meetings and other formal/informal meetings and will pro-actively engage and promote our Froebelian ethos, taking a lead role in the development of indoor/outdoor play and learning.
Due to the pace and size of our Centre, this opportunity requires someone with experience of working at a supervisory level and encourage suitably qualified Early Years professionals to apply.
