Location: Glasgow or Perth

Salary: Circa £118,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Permanent Contract | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

As Director of Project Services you'll lead project assurance and provide independent challenge for SSE's large capital programme of c.1.4bn per annum, providing project management and subject matter advice and expertise both at senior management and project director level across SSE.

You'll play an integral role in the Project Services Team leading project assurance reviews of large capital projects (LCP) guaranteeing quality, effectiveness and impact. The Executive Committee will rely on your accurate reporting on the status and delivery of these projects to ensure governance requirements are met or that associated risk is documented and quantified. It is critical that LCP Governance Framework is applied within commercial constraints on time, without jeopardising project value and delivery.

Furthermore, a key part of your role involves working with Senior Stakeholders and Joint Venture Partners developing a relationship of confidence and trust in your assurance interventions and you'll work with your team of professionals and subject matter experts to drive continuous improvement resulting in high quality operational improvements and recommendations.

Your Skills and Experience

To get the most out of your role you may have an Engineering Degree or Chartered status but more importantly will have a first-class knowledge of LCP Framework or capital project governance framework.

You'll be an inspirational senior leader with a track record of building and developing successful teams. Your senior management experience will include leading the development and delivery of LCP within energy, oil and gas, utilities, or public-sector organisations, with a strong track record of organisational transformation and performance management. In addition, you'll have knowledge and experience of developing and applying project management and fiscal governance within a large private sector or public-sector organisation.

With this in mind, your professional gravitas, resilience and integrity will be the key to your success in this role. You'll naturally communicate with a breadth of internal and external stakeholders with confidence and honesty as you build and maintain solid relationships.

Being a highly motivated individual with a passion for project management and engineering you'll thrive on the tight deadlines and high standards that come with this role.
