POSITION: Embedded Software Engineer

LOCATION: Stirling, Scotland

SALARY: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

HOURS OF WORK: Flexitime

You will be working in brand new offices in Stirling, working on the development of a medical device that is going to revolutionize the healthcare sector globally. You will developing embedded software code for a handheld device that will transform ‘In Vitro Diagnostic testing’ (i.e. tests done on samples such as blood or tissue to detect diseases or other conditions).

You will be working in the Research & Development team (consisting of Software Engineers, Electronics Engineers and Mechanical Engineers), but onsite in Stirling you have researchers and scientists that you will also interact with. The canteen area promotes conversation & team bonding across the business, as everyone onsite shares the same canteen area (this creates a real team ethos, with everyone working towards the same shared goal of revolutionizing the healthcare industry).

You will be joining the company at a very exciting time stage. At present they have their 1st phase device which they now wish to enhance and further develop. The device is now ‘real’ (i.e. it’s not a blank piece of paper idea) but the device is at it’s most simplest version. With the 1st stage device complete and working, the client now wishes to add lots of extra functions and enhancements to its 2nd model. The client has the customer demand and the manufacturing and production processes are all in place for the device.

In terms of skills needed for this role, you should be a confident Embedded C programmer who has experience with microcontrollers/ microprocessors. Experience developing on RTOS or Bare Metal platforms would be desirable, as would experience working on low power/ memory constrained products. For this role you don’t have to have medical device experience, but any experience working in safety critical environments (automotive, aerospace, oil+gas) or following coding guidelines (they could be internal company guidelines) would be desirable but not essential.

Aside being a confident Embedded C programmer you should have a ‘can do’ attitude who is positive and genuinely will be driven by working on device that is game changing in the healthcare industry.

If you want to join a company that is off the ground from start-up stage, but still has a start-up feel, and where all team members are pulling together to make a difference, then this could be well suited to you.
