To operate within existing legislation, guidance and procedures in assessing the financial circumstances of our public whilst ensuring correct billing in order to maximise income for both Fife Council and its customers.
To provide advice and resolve customer queries through various communications channels.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.Requirements
Applicants must be educated to SVQ2 level (4 qualifications at intermediate 2 level or above) or equivalent in a business /customer service background that would demonstrate the standard of work required for the role
Previous experience in a financial/customer service background dealing with customers by telephone, face to face and correspondence is also essential.

Successful candidates will be involved in calculating entitlement to Housing Benefit & Council Tax Reduction. You will also be involved in the assessment and billing of Council Tax. These posts are being advertised for staff to work in the Benefits & Council Tax Assessment Team.
You will be required to take a proactive approach to managing your own workload, comply with legislative requirements processing claims for Housing Benefit and assessing Council Tax liability.
The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You should be confident when dealing with complex financial calculations. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential as is the ability to interpret and understand legislation and policies.
