The ASL Service provides targeted interventions to support children and young people (0 -18 years) across all sectors with additional support needs. We are a peripatetic service and applicants must be willing to work anywhere in the city.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the ASL Literacy team supporting schools with their literacy needs in both Primary and Secondary. This involves working with schools on their Read, Write Inc, Fresh Start and Secondary SRA interventions.

On Tuesdays you will be part of the Literacy/Dyslexia Support Team working with referred pupils.

The role includes development and delivery of training programmes as well as working directly in schools, advising on resourcing and organisation, supporting Literacy and Dyslexia Guidelines implementation, collation of Literacy Tracker data and mentoring SfL teachers new to post.

Applications are invited from Primary or Secondary registered teachers. The ability to work collaboratively with a range of practitioners to create high quality inclusive teaching and learning environments is essential. This post may be offered for a secondment to CEC substantive postholders.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
