Agenda for Change Band 7 - £33,222 - £43,471 per annum
Full Time; 37.5 hours per week
Fixed term/secondment opportunity for 12 months

Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland, with responsibility of developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland. The Educational Development Team is responsible for a portfolio of work, including approaches to widening access to learning for NHSScotland support staff.
The CNO Commission on Widening Participation in Nursing and Midwifery Education and Careers (2018) aims to ‘maximise opportunities to participate in nursing and midwifery education and careers’. The report of the commission was published in December 2017 and includes recommendations to widen access and increase development opportunities for support workers.
What you'll do
Your key aim will be to widen access to vocational learning to support access to careers in healthcare. You’ll lead projects, working in partnership with a range of stakeholders, to take forward aspects of the CNO’s Commission report as above and to support new and existing NHSScotland employees to recognise and record prior learning.
Specifically, the postholder will
• work with key partners to develop an approach to the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to underpin and support access into vocational qualifications at different levels, including RPL to support access into pre-registration nursing and midwifery programmes
• work with key partners to develop a Foundation Apprenticeship in Healthcare Support, providing articulation into the SVQ in Healthcare Support at SCQF levels 6 and 7
• develop the principles, approach to, and format of, a digital resource to support staff to recognise, record, reflect on and build claims for RPL, both retrospectively and as part of ongoing personal development planning

These will include but are not restricted to
• A postgraduate level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
• Significant experience of working in health and/or education with a focus on vocational learning
• Experience in partnership and collaborative working
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyse and communicate complex information
• Organisational and project management skills
