Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus
Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week
This vacancy sits within the Energy Costs team who are responsible for managing the business' wholesale energy costs and associated risks. The role of Senior Market Analyst will be a key resource for analysis and modelling capability. The main objective of the role will be to provide analysis of dynamic wholesale market data and provide insight to enhance decision making around retail hedging and energy purchasing. This is crucial to ensure risks, which can impact business profit and loss by tens of millions of pounds, are monitored, reported and managed in a timely and efficient way.
Your Skills and Experience
This is a highly specialised role where experience working in a commercial energy environment and an in-depth knowledge of wholesale energy markets are highly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of key market price drivers and be able to analyse data, including supply and demand information, to produce a short to medium term market view. The role requires technical expertise and an eye for detail to manage and maintain complex internal models. Proficiency with Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Access and VBA, is vital for the role, as is good analytical skills. You'll be responsible for ensuring model assumptions are valid and for communicating complex information to different areas of the business including senior management. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Most of all you'll have the drive and ability to complete time-critical tasks to enhance the team's competitive edge.
