Salary: £31,500 - £47,900 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Analyst to join our Systems Operations team based in Perth. This small team works closely with operational and finance users to design, develop and maintain several complex models, supporting critical decision making and reporting needs. The team utilises a variety of software including MS Access, Excel and TM1* modelling solutions.

This is an exciting role which provides the rare opportunity of both operational and systems experience and the chance to add considerable and quantifiable value to the business. In the current business environment, adapting or implementing new models and processes in response to the changing needs of the business will be vital to the success of this role and the team.

As a Technical Analyst, you will be responsible for the end to end development lifecycle, from scoping, specification and design, through to development, testing and release of technical solutions to fulfil business requirements. Bringing rigour and diligence to the process, you'll ensure that models are robust and meet audit needs. You will be responsible for protecting the integrity and security of data held within core systems.

Understanding the importance of these applications and the users' experience of the tools they use, you'll document and develop solutions to fulfil business needs, supporting fault resolution as appropriate.

* TM1 is a multi-dimensional OLAP database, used within Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) to produce daily financial and business reports and analysis. It covers all aspects of EPM performance and provides a wide-ranging set of challenges across all the areas that contribute to SSE Wholesale's gross profit.

Your Skills & Experience

You'll be a strategic and analytical thinker with a proactive approach, taking ownership of issues and driving them to resolution, often with limited supervision. You will have excellent organisational skills, an ability to prioritise conflicting tasks and will work methodically, with great attention to detail. To succeed in this role, you should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access software and can demonstrate a good awareness of database design and an understanding of multidimensional OLAP databases. You'll have a track record of developing tools, bringing specification and design documents to life. A good knowledge of project lifecycle, including design and development, would be advantageous for this role and knowledge and experience of TM1 would be preferable.

You'll have experience using extraction tools to analyse and manage data and be able to produce and maintain solution lifecycle documents (Analysis, Design, Development, Test & Implementation). Furthermore, you'll be able to interpret and assess project governance documentation highlighting wider implications, scoping & implementing the technical solutions.
