Senior Solutions Architect (Wholesale)
Job Title: Senior Solutions Architect (Wholesale)
Location: Perth, Scotland with flexibility to work from other SSE locations (Edinburgh/Glasgow)
Salary: £55576 - £73401 depending on skills and experience
Permanent | Full Time Hours
As a Senior Solutions Architect, supporting our Wholesale business, you'll be responsible for delivering high-level Solution Architectures in line with business requirements, organisation and industry standards, and ensure these maintain integrity within the context of the relevant programme architecture, and comply with our Enterprise Architecture, roadmaps, architecture principles and standards.
You'll support the development of project planning including ensuring phases are appropriate and support the budget development process for a solution to maximise its business case. Additionally, you'll be accountable for the viability of proposed solutions and provide direction, advice and guidance on the appropriate approach to the solution throughout the project.
A key part of your role will be to provide direction and guidance on projects, ensuring adherence to Architecture and Design standards and the Enterprise/Target Architecture, and to establish strong relationships with stakeholders by effectively managing expectations and inspiring confidence in delivery.
You'll also perform a design authority role on projects, ensuring the detailed designs and solutions, delivered on projects up to £20m, align to the Solution Architecture, managing and resolving any design issues as they arise.
This role requires the delivery of fully-rounded IT solutions for the Wholesale businesses within SSE, rather than a purely technical or infrastructure view, but should be based on past experience of a diverse range of technologies, ideally covering some of: integration technologies, Oracle database and Fusion Middleware, IBM Maximo, Microsoft Azure and general Cloud computing.
Your Skills and Experience
You'll demonstrate proven ability and experience in working with executive levels, translating business needs into solution architecture requirements and options. Your approach to balancing long-term (strategic) and short-term implications of individual proposals and decisions, will be pragmatic and you'll have significant experience in developing solution architectures and exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
You'll already have experience applying architecture frameworks and any related architecture development methods, such as TOGAF, and working in a structured and methodical way including building and maintaining architecture baselines.
Your ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including business sponsors, Business Transformation Leads, Relationship Managers and delivery teams, is essential to this role.
You'll have a broad range of experience covering Enterprise, Solution and Technical architecture, ideally with a full software development lifecycle background, and previous participation in, or running of, IT governance functions.
