Location: Glasgow

Salary: £27,400 - £41,800 depending on skills and experience

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available

The Role

You will support the Technical Analysis and project teams by delivering wind and noise monitoring programmes as required, ensuring works conform with industry best practice guidance and enabling a robust analysis of the data to be undertaken. You will conduct regular wind data QC for met masts and remote sensing devices deployed across SSE's projects.

You will be responsible for managing any contractors and consultants in the delivery of works required, ensuring all aspects of work are performed safely and to a high standard, from issuing tenders to delivering site works. This will involve reviewing risk assessments, method statements and reports.

The role will feature field deployments for LiDAR remote sensing devices and their power supplies. You will also support the delivery of wind turbine power performance assessments for new and operating projects, working with the project teams to procure, deploy and analyse the data from any works conducted and delivering the results back into the business.

You will have the opportunity to develop your analysis skills through wind farm layout designs, conducting wind flow and energy modelling, performing turbine suitability assessments, and performing in-house R&D as necessary.

SSE's wind farm sites in UK and Ireland are often remote and difficult to access, and so you will need to be comfortable working in the outdoor environment.

Your Skills & Experience

To be successful in your application you will be educated to degree level in a physical science or engineering degree. You will have a high degree of numerical and computer literacy and will be comfortable with data processing and analysis.

Knowledge of industry-standard wind analysis software such as Windographer and Windfarmer, and CFD software such as ANSYS Windmodeller will also be beneficial. A familiarity with tools such as Excel and Access is required. Programming skills are also desirable, particularly in Matlab or vb.net.

To fulfil this role, you will need strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be required to communicate to a variety of stakeholders and interact with multi-disciplined project teams. You'll also be demonstrably proactive, self-motivated, with the ability to problem solve and deal with multiple and competing demands. You'll also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong report writing skills and the ability to problem solve.

You will need to frequently visit the sites you support so you need, or must be willing to obtain, a full driving licence.
