Job Title: Audit Assistant

Salary: £24,923 - £32,919 depending on skills and experience
Permanent Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available
Reporting to a Compliance Manager / Head of Compliance, you will support the team in the completion of internal compliance reviews; working independently to sample business calls, process outputs and produce timely, accurate and informative management information. This will include the provision of effective administrative support to ensure the successful delivery of the Approvals process.
You will scrutinise the activities of an allocated part of SSE's business in relation to assessing compliance with its regulatory and legislative obligations. This will involve reviewing business documentation to ensure adherence, providing compliance advice and identifying and mitigating any risk.
Maintaining an up to date knowledge of the external legislative rules and regulations which apply to your allocated business unit(s) (taking account of changes in industry standards, regulations and relevant statute) will be a key part of your role. You will also assist the business through both formal review and general consultation; working closely with Regulation and Legal to ensure the business understands the rules that apply to their work areas.
You will actively participate in regulatory/legislative change discussions with the business and act as a positive facilitator of change.
Your Skills and Experience
Educated to degree level within a relevant business area such as Law, Business or Management, you will have excellent report-writing skills, good attention to detail and will be able to operate effectively in challenging situations. This is a fast-paced team so the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities is also important.
Building and retaining strong and credible relationships within the business will be crucial to your success as well as the ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders at all levels. You will therefore possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally. This includes challenging the status quo, being able to negotiate, influence, resolve conflicts and promote change.
To thrive in this role, you must be flexible with great time management and have a good knowledge of Microsoft systems especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Previous experience in an Assurance or Risk based role is not essential but would be advantageous.
