Job Description

As part of the Direct Services Management Team within Glasgow Health & Social Care Partnership, the role of Service Manager (Children's Residential Services) is to ensure that a high standard of residential care is provided for Looked After and Accommodated Children in Glasgow. This includes ensuring residential units perform well and the quality of care offered is of a high standard. You will also be responsible for the on-going development of the modernisation agenda for residential children's services, recruitment and retention of staff, ensuring children's rights are promoted and safeguarded, and hold responsibility for budgets. You must have substantial experience of people, financial and resource management, as well as service development and evaluation. You must also be able to demonstrate commitment and have the ability to lead, motivate and inspire people to improve performance and public services.

Essential qualifications, along with registration with the appropriate professional body are: SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 9 OR Social Work Degree (or equivalent) OR a qualification in Nursing OR Occupational Therapy OR Community Education OR Diploma in Domiciliary Care. Also essential is an SVQ 4 Registered Manager in Health and Social Care (Registered Manager's Award) OR SVQ Care Services Leadership and Management at SCQF Level 10.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

The appointment is subject to your obtaining registration with the Scottish Social Services Council, and if you are not already registered this must be completed within 6 months of appointment. Continued registration is an essential requirement of your employment.
