The successful candidate will be joining the East Lothian and Midlothian Trading Standards' Partnership. The Partnership is still in the process of being defined, so the successful candidate will automatically play a major role in the re-shaping of the Trading Standards service across East Lothian and Midlothian.
To support and assist the Trading Standards Manager in ensuring the effective organisation and delivery of the Trading Standards Service, by overseeing the East Lothian Team in its day-to-day activities.
To fulfil the Council’s statutory duties and non-statutory obligations in respect of the Trading Standards Service.
To act as a Weights and Measures Inspector.

You must ensure you meet every 'essential' criteria stated on the Person Specification to reach the interview stage. In cases where the majority of applicants meet all the essential criteria, the desirable criteria will be used to form a final short-leet.
Must hold the Diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent level of qualification and be able to act as an Inspector of Weights and Measures.
This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
