Salary: £15,285 to £17,191 (pro rata for part-time and sessional) plus living wage allowance if applicable.
Hours: 27.5hrs (Monday to Friday) / 39 weeks per year
An opportunity has arisen at Forthview Primary for someone to join our committed and dynamic staff team as a part time pupil support Assistant.
Forthview Primary School is a Public Private Partnership funded school opened in West Pilton, North Edinburgh in 2003. The building is modern and well maintained and accommodates 14 classrooms, a library, a meeting room, a family room, an after-school room, large gym hall and dining area. The school population has risen this session and has approximately 500 pupils including a 50:50 nursery, with 69% in SIMD 1 & 2.
The school SLT includes HT, 1 non- teaching DHT, 1 part-time teaching FT depute and 1 PT(nursery). The classes are taught by a mixture of full-time and part-time staff with a wide range of experience. There are part-time support for learning teachers in each wing and a large team of Pupil Support Assistants who are led by the depute head teacher, the SfL team and class teacher to support individuals and groups of learners. We have a family support teacher who has a wide remit and she plays a highly valued role in working between home and school as well as teaching Fresh Start at Primary 6
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
The City of Edinburgh Council applies a Living Wage allowance to ensure that all employees earn at least £8.51 per hour. Successful applicants will be paid the hourly rate for the role, plus the allowance, in order to bring their earnings to £8.51 per hour.
