Job Title: Protection & Control Engineer

Location: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness or Perth

Salary: £31,500 - £47,900 plus bonus and car/car allowance

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available 37 hours

Our Role

You'll provide technical Protection & Control support across multiple projects. This will include creating outline scheme designs and KLDs; developing scope and specifications for new build substations as well as modification to the existing P&C system. You will also be responsible for reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witness FAT, provide settings for relays and support the development of signal lists. You'll support field teams to ensure quality of installations and evaluate tenders and scope while procuring and managing specialist services from consultants.

Your Skills and Experience

For this role you'll have a degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience to. You should have a good awareness of the technical functions in Transmission along with an appreciation of legal and regulatory obligations and LCP governance and engineering processes. You'll understand legislation and the implications for the Transmission network management for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR.

The softer more personal attributes of the ideal candidate will include diligence and the ability to determine critical technical issues and prioritise them. You must be a problem solver with strength of character to ensure critical matters are addressed by the project teams and you must possess excellent communication skills.

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
