Job Title: Overhead Line Project Engineer

Location: Glasgow, Perth, Inverness and Aberdeen

Salary: £31,500 - £47,900 plus car/car allowance and bonus

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available 37 hours

Our Role

You'll be responsible for the OHL engineering within a multi-disciplinary project team to successfully deliver large High Voltage transmission projects to cost, quality and time. The projects will involve the construction of High Voltage infrastructure in remote parts of Northern Scotland.

The role holder will be responsible for;

  • OHL design for the projects they are responsible for.
  • Building and maintaining productive and enduring relationships with Contractors, Stakeholders, Communities and the public to support the sustainable delivery of the projects that you are responsible for.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team of individuals with specialism in engineering, construction, planning/scheduling, commercial, risk, quality, health and safety, land and wayleaves, legal, communications and engagement, environment and administration/document control.
  • The project team, contractors, site locations and stakeholders are all in different locations across Scotland, the OHL engineer will be expected to travel regularly around Scotland as the project demands.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and internal regulations, processes, specifications, standards and internal governance.
  • Your Skills and Experience

    We are looking for a candidate that can demonstrate the following;

  • An understanding of SSE's business areas, the Energy industry, gained from experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the SHE Transmission business and a working understanding of regulated markets.
  • Experience of the utility sector, with preference for energy networks.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements including Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and evidence of leading on health and safety performance in construction projects
  • A strong understanding of tendering processes for the engagement of consultants and contractors is expected. A working knowledge of NEC3 contracts is required; experience of working under framework contract arrangements is preferred.
  • You will have worked as either a client/consultant or contractor in the design or delivery of large value capital projects.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are expected as you will be engaging with a wide number of people and organisations in delivering the projects including the preparation of complex reports and executive summaries.
  • A high level of computer literacy is essential.
  • A proven track record of building and managing multi-disciplinary teams and a developed understanding and experience of how to get the best out of people and build a proud team.
  • Finally, we would be looking for you to have a professional qualification in Engineering, however, suitable experience will be sufficient.
