Job Title: Commercial Contracts Manager

Location: Edinburgh Glasgow or Perth (Travel to Edinburgh 2 days per week is required)

Salary: up to £56,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available

Business Function

Energy Solutions (ES) provides the managed installation of Energy Efficiency measures (External Wall Insulation, Heating etc) and associated works for Local Authorities and Housing Associations, supporting the delivery SSE's ECO obligation. We provide a complete procurement and contract delivery service to our clients and appoint Principal Designers and Contractors who are managed through our Operations team. Our business operates predominantly in Scotland.

The Role

You will take the lead on commercial contract management and procurement activities to ensure we are able to deliver our ongoing commitments to customers and the Energy Solutions business while driving forward our strategic vision. The breadth of our customer and third-party relationships and services means no two days will be the same in this role, with identifying our next great opportunity as important as making sure we manage the day to day.

You will lead the delivery of new commercial agreements, develop and extend existing supply chains and establish and maintain effective contract management of existing customer and partner relationships.

Proactively managing the relationship with our legal team will ensure you are able to progress significant contract developments alongside more discrete and tactical legal requirements. Working across multi-skilled teams you will provide commercial insight on product and proposition proposals.

Your Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will be have significant experience in delivering Energy Efficiency refurbishment programmes in Social Housing & Communities. You will bring to ES an extensive understanding of the supply chain structure and market driver and be able to demonstrate personal relationships with key contractors.

Ideally educated to degree level and due to your experience, you will:

  • Have a detailed understanding of the dynamics of commercial and legal agreements
  • Be a effective and determined negotiator
  • Have a commercial mindset
  • A strong eye for detail around governance and contractual improvements
  • The ability to keep a firm grasp on the key levers of profitability whilst identifying, evaluating and driving opportunities for growth
  • Ability to create and articulate complex commercial proposals at a senior level
  • With strong communication skills you will be comfortable building relationships and managing stakeholders at all levels. The ability to collaborate across organisational boundaries, whilst providing leadership on critical commercial activities is essential.
