Job Title - Management Accountant - Distribution Operations (Systems & Customer)
Location - Perth or Reading
Salary - £35147 - £46418 depending on skills and experience.
Permanent Full Time Hours with Flexible working patterns available - 37 hours per week

This role will be focused around provision of a high-quality management accounting service to both the Distribution Customer Operations SHEPD & Distribution System Operations business. This will include provision of financial management information and budgeting & forecasting activities as well as maintaining a robust financial control and compliance framework.

Key Accountabilities
Ensure monthly financial management information is prepared on a timely and accurate basis, including reports & analysis for monthly reporting for Projects, Overheads, Transport & Manpower for System Operations & a number of business units within Customer Operations SHEPD.
Support preparation of the annual budget / forecasts and monthly accounting & analysis for DUoS (Distribution Use of System) Income including price / volume variance reporting and Balance Sheet management & reporting.
Co-ordinate, prepare and review the annual budget & run regular forecast submissions for System Operations, and support the preparation for the annual budgets and forecasts for Customer Operations SHEPD.
Co-ordinate with other DNO's with respect to the LCNF T2 awards and National Grid for NIC T projects. Ensure compliance with Ofgem license conditions and complete regulatory returns for Networks Innovation Projects. Ensure compliance with external funding streams e.g. Innovate UK and FP7 / Horizon, review claims and manage external audits.
Build and manage effective relationships with internal stakeholders. Work closely with and build effective relationships with key staff and managers in Distribution Operations (System & Customer). Coaching the business in effective financial management to ensure the accuracy of financial numbers reported.
Support effective financial control within Networks Finance, including;
* Preparing Control account reconciliations & Balance Sheet analysis
* Preparing VAT return for Networks
* Monitoring & clearing Harmony suspense accounts
* Reconciliation of Harmony Project Balances to Harmony GL

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Qualified accountant, part qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
Knowledge of core financial systems and a strong understanding of management accounting, financial processes, practices and applications.
Ability to understand drivers of business performance and to communicate issues.
Adaptable & flexible with the ability to cope with a wide range of challenging deliverables
Ability to communicate effectively with senior operational staff within the Distribution Business
Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team or independently, prioritizing time effectively to meet tight deadlines
Strive to constantly improve processes

Functional and Technical Skills

Proficient in MS office Applications with an advanced knowledge of Excel
Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems, processes and workflow technology
Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
