Wind Mechanical Team Leader
Location: UK OR Ireland
Salary: : £39,600 - £56,500 OR circa €60k - €65k depending on skills and experience + benefits + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

As the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead you will be reposnsible for ensuring that mechanical assets across the fleet of Onshore Windfarms are managed safely and effectively for both routine maintenance and defect resolution activities. You will bring experience of implementing machinery safety legislation to ensure assets are operated in a safe manner, adhering to operational safety practices. You will also be responsible for the implementation of robust and consistent maintenance practices that are employed to maximise operating efficiency of wind turbine assets.
You will provide focused technical and project management support to the Onshore Wind Teams to ensure the business is able to meet its goals. Furthermore, you will be required to engage with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to SSE, to ensure that the fleet can operate to the highest standards of safety and technical performance; and will have responsibility for identifying key budget submissions for planned and unplanned works and business improvement projects and to deliver any budget submissions within the financial year.
You will provide line management responsibility for the team of mechanical engineers and outline continual development plans for each. You will lead by example and will encourage open discussions, interaction, continuous improvement and problem solving in a collaborative, team environment.
Your Skills and Experience
-Demonstrable experience managing teams in engineering / utility environment would be an advantage
-Degree qualified in a core engineering function, or the ability to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role
-Ability to perform both safety, environmental and technical risk assessments to ensure that activities are managed safely and effectively
-Competent in discussing machinery / Electrical safety legislation and implementation of such through recognised safe systems of work.
-Ability to innovate and to drive team innovation to ensure that SSE's Onshore Wind business is aware of emerging best practices, technologies, etc.
As you will be travelling to different sites across out fleet a driving licence is essential
