Senior Officer - Estimating Road Services

Salary £34253 - £38615 per annum (£18.77 - £21.16 per hour)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the preparation of preliminary budgets, milestone cost estimates, rates for work and final bid scope/pricing proposals for various types of construction work on the road network for internal and external clients. You will also have experience of working with a diverse range of specifications, methods of measurements, conditions of contact and purchasing procedures.
The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology and computer estimating/tendering packages will be used as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.
It is expected that the individual will be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a Building/Civil Engineering discipline, for example, SVQ 5 or honours degree and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service. This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS).
