We require an enthusiastic, caring, well-motivated and flexible individual with excellent customer service skills to join our team. You will deal promptly and effectively with all incoming routine and emergency calls, ensuring each call is dealt with in a sympathetic and appropriate manner. As part of a team, you will be responsible for accurate maintenance of both paper and computer records. Familiar with I.T. you should be able to communicate well with clients, staff and agencies using the service.
The opportunity to work additional overtime shifts to cover absence is also currently available.
IMPORTANT - Please note that a two-stage interview process will be used to select the most suitable candidate for this post.
Stage One - a long list of candidates will be selected to undertake call handling skills testing. These tests are scheduled to last no more than 1 hour.
Stage Two - a short list of candidates will then be selected for interview at a later stage. Both events will be held in the Contact Centre, Penston House.
To assist in the delivery of front line Community Response contact services for a range of Council services in compliance with Council policies and procedures.

You must ensure you meet every 'essential' criteria stated on the Person Specification to reach the interview stage. In cases where the majority of applicants meet all the essential criteria, the desirable criteria will be used to form a final short-leet.
Educated to Higher level, NC or SVQ Level 2 in English and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
